When I stay inside:
I don't suffer from winter blues, but summer blues. Round about the end of July or beginning of August when the children are driving me absolutely insane (I'm bored! Stop touching me...mom, he's touching me! she won't play with me, he's not sharing etc.) and the summer heat (or giant mosquitos capable of flying off with small children or humidity that makes you feel like you just went swimming when all you did was step outside) forces us all to stay indoors.
The AC is currently running 24/7. Ceiling fans are all going full blast...(you know those home improvement shows where they always take down the ceiling fan and put some decorative light up...yea, they don't live here)...ceiling fans are an absolute must have. I now understand why people who settled my state were considered a stubborn and strong lot...they would have had to have been in order to live here without air conditioning.
So, I lay around blah and moody because it is so sweltering hot outside that I have to change my sweaty clothes after I go check the mail. Is it time for school to start? Is it time for fall yet? I wish these dang cicadas would SHUT UP!! (and I usually find them to be soothing and nostalgic)
Did you know that eyelids sweat? Well. They. Do. Blah.
Wish I looked like this when I sweat:
Ooooh...better yet...this (hey, a girl can dream can't she):

Those women who run around saying "I don't sweat, I glisten"...you DO NOT live where I do then! Let me go stick my head in the freezer so I can quit my whining. I hate moods like this...it's probably just PMS...I'll feel better next week. Anybody have some chocolate?...yep, definitely PMS.

We are having my kind of summer here..have not had a 90 degree day yet....but i can sympathize with you.....cute post.
ReplyDeletehugs abby
Thanks abby...it actually isn't as bad as it can be, but it is still freaking hot:) and we have a couple of months before we will have any relief:(
DeleteWishing you cooler days ahead, Bea! :) I remember some days when the kids were little and their activities had us braving the outside on the hottest of days! No fun! Babies nursing and kids climbing all over me. They were cute little things though. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL no sweating and glistening was ever here! That has never been me. Last year, in the throes of menopause, I could be dressed up and out at some special occasion, and well... it was embarrassing the sweating that came out of nowhere at the most inopportune times! This year- the weather has been better and that phase seems to have passed! Thankfully. Wishing you lots of a/c, cool beverages and less humid days ahead! Many hugs,
<3 Katie
Thank you Katie! Unfortunately I will have to wait a couple of months:) but I suppose it could be worse...glad I haven't had the hot flashes yet...I had those during pregnancy and they were no fun!
DeleteOoh Bea...been there done that and for several years, we had no A/C or even ceiling fans. Box fans on the floor in front of a pan of ice...*sigh* High heat and humidity is so hard on everyone's temperament. Sending lots of good thoughts and wishes for cooler weather and even tempers.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Blessings...
Cat
Thanks! You know it is my temper that needs to stay even:) I don't think that I could live without air conditioning...I might melt!
DeleteWishing you cooler, more comfortable days Bea. I would gladly take s little of your heat as we are in winter. Well, actually, it has been fairly mild, but I am fed up with the incessant gale winds, drizzle and rain we've been experiencing.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Roz
I know I shouldn't complain...especially come winter when elsewhere people are buried under snow and I can at times where flip flops on Christmas:)
DeleteSending you wishes for a cool, dry breeze! ( ~ ~ ~ -- that's my symbol for a breeze to you ) I couldn't live where you do. We went to Quebec in July a few years ago so I thought good, farther north the weather should be pleasant. Ha, no way, it was just as hot and humid (but we did have our best ever vacation). I prefer the other three seasons. Have you tried soaking your feet in cold water with ice cubes? And while sitting there I suggest eating one of those fancy chocolate ice cream bars.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Meg
Ooooh...I think I felt that breeze:) We have all the seasons here...unfortunately summer can last 6 months of the year...we get a short two months each of all the other seasons:( I sometimes wish we had snow here until I watch the news and think of shoveling it...nah, I think I'll pass:)
DeleteChocolate makes everything better:)
Since our summers usually look like this, I'm going to go ahead and be a big fat poopy head and say, "Ha ha!".
ReplyDeleteMissouri summer has been unseasonably cool this year. We had a high of 75 two days ago. We were pushing 100 this time last year. No explanation for it, but I sure do appreciate it.
Laughing...it is a good thing for you that I have had my chocolate Mr. poopy head as I am in a much better mood...pffttt.
DeleteUnfortunately, we have had high 90s with 75-80% humidity so it feels like it is over 100...which is actually somewhat cool for us too but we have at least two more months of this and it just gets old sometimes. I try to remind myself though that at least I won't be shoveling snow...like ever.
Same thing here. We deserved a break after last summer. What happened to 30 Degrees? I was one of her followers. I miss her posts.
Deletehope you got that chocolate. :-) I melt quickly in heat. I thankfully have been having a relatively mild summer with only a few days of horrible humidity and heat but I truly do empathize. And I don't glisten...I sweat. :-) And sadly the sibling bickering began after only a couple of days into summer vacation...alas...I am trying to remember all the good times between those moments of wanting to rip out my hair...and there have been many. :-) Anyhow, I understand and wish you well. Hugs
ReplyDeletethat is...many good moments...the good far outnumber the moments of wanting to rip out my hair... :-)
DeleteAhhhh chocolate can fix a lot of things and wine everything else, but I must confess that I am very ready for school to start! Hope the rest of your summer continues to have more good times than hair ripping ones:)
DeleteGet that swimsuit so your hubby can dream too. And NO, you don't have to have her body for him to think you look sexy in it.Try it. You'll see.
ReplyDeleteLol...the closest thing to a two piece that I will wear is a tankini.:) He'd love it but I couldn't wear it anywhere;)
DeleteWho said you have leave your own house or backyard? Consider it an option to lingerie. You may not want to roam around the house in lingerie (or you may?) especially when the kids are home, but a swim suit justified by the hot weather or possible tanning at some later point in the day can camouflage your real intent to be entertaining and enticing for Levi. I wonder why I have never seen this suggested before, especially in families with kids? Almost every bit as sexy and revealing as lingerie but so socially acceptable. Even the tankini with the top occasionally riding up to expose a little back or belly button midriff zone could do the same. So glad I thought of this. Go do it. Do it while he is at work and the kids are home. You get used to doing it and the kids come to see it as nothing unusual, just Mommies swimsuit day. When he is home on the weekend you have rehearsed it, got the kids curiosity under control and are good to go. I REALLY like this idea. Don't start with the body image thing. You already know what you will hear from me and Levi both on that one. Go for it, girl.
ReplyDeleteOh zip it!
ReplyDeleteZip it? Seriously? You don't think that's a viable option for when a wife might want to tease around with her husband but feel uncomfortable trotting around in her underwear? Or are you just telling me it won't be happening for your husband no matter what you're wearing? It's difficult to tell your intent without voice tone or visual context with the written word. It seemed a great compromise to me and you don't have to worry about who's going to come knocking at the door in the middle of the day. You're just getting ready to go out and work on your tan.
DeleteNo worries Dan...I think she is just teasing me about complaining about my weather:) She spends a better part of the year covered in snow...it is kind of a joke between us to tease each other about our different climates...I don't think she was talking about the itty bitty bikini:)

DeleteOoops sorry I didn't mean to click reply- should have clicked add comment. I didn't even read any of the other comments. I blame my 9 hour car ride yesterday for my bumble.
DeleteBUT I still stand by my Zip it......for BEA! *wink*
I was looking at the way the thread is structured and I think I am at fault here WR. You ARE NOT right indented under my comment. Mea culpa. On my blog the replies indent further and the background color changes so it's easy to tell. I don't like the way the columns get narrower as the thread gets replies to replies on my blog though. It can get down to two word columns. At that point I just restart the thread with a "new" comment. Either way, I think we should blame it on Bea and her choice of themes. Works for me. :P
DeleteWorks for me too. As long as I'm off the hook! ;)
DeleteDone! All Bea's fault for choosing this theme. ;)
ReplyDeletePffffttttt...Oh Fine, I'll take the blame;)
ReplyDeleteIndeed you will. By the way, whatever happened to Red Pill
DeleteWifey and the blog? Did you like the glam shot ideas from that site?
I am not sure...I actually tried to email her the other day just to see how she was doing...no response yet.
DeleteI did! Thanks so much for sharing:)
Danny @ the 504 didn't know either. His blog is not someplace I usually frequent so he may not have been to interested in helping. I'm not much on all of that red pill stuff/blue pill stuff. I feel like he and Athol are making mountains out of molehills in some instances.
