Where have you been all my life?

I have a new love affair: Coconut Oil!

I have finally listened to voices of reason and knowledge and tried something that I will admit kinda freaked me out.  I first read about it here on Average Married Dad's blog...but I wasn't completely convinced.  Why? The oil word messed it up for me and the fact that it is solid...so strange.  You cook with it and you want me to put it where?

Here is the deal...I have very sensitive skin...my dermatologist tells me it is due to my red hair...makes me want to smack her.  I didn't used to have a problem with lubricant.  I had enough of my own...but three kids, hypothyroidism, getting older?...whatever the reason, I sometimes need it now.  I have tried so many lubricants it is not even funny!  That crap is expensive to try the first time and throw the bottle away...felt like I was throwing away money.

I have tried all the ones in the grocery store and the only one I could use was KY Sensitive and it is ridiculous sticky and may not cause immediate burning or irritation like some, but think it was contributing to chronic issues.  Plus it's full of parabens which I am trying to rid my life of.

Then I read about it's uses here at Frankly Speaking.  Then I had someone else tell me she used Coconut oil and that she has sensitive skin also...third time's a charm or female to female advice?  Not sure, but I thought...what the heck, I'll give it a whirl.

Amazing...not oily like I thought it was going to be...and my skin is better!  Plus we can use as it as a massage oil.  There is a slight odor that bugged me at first...I lit a candle the first time and now I am used to it.  So go get some coconut oil and...

Well...enjoy!

  1. I love the stuff. The toasty coconut smell starts to become the scent of sex :-). Some need to wash it off thoroughly, though, or it can clog pores.

  3. I am currently trying to omit products with sulfate and parabens, as I noticed skin irritation whenever my skin is in contact with them. I will give this a try and see how it works for my oversensitive skin, thanks!

  4. Hi Bea, :) Well that sounds very interesting. I have never cooked with coconut oil but my daughters have. Serves other purposes as well- how neat! Glad that you found something that works for your sensitivities. Very versatile stuff. Thanks for sharing. Many hugs,

  5. Hey Bea...I love coconut oil...I keep a tub in the kitchen for cooking and another in my bedroom that I use as a skin conditioner. It's also great to use as a hair conditioner...work it into your hair, wrap in plastic for about 30 minutes and then was as usual. Happy you found something that works.

    Hugs and blessings...

  8. I have even used it on toast instead of butter. Not as flavorful but keeps the toast from being dry as well as other things. It's a good lubricant for everyone's everything and it's edible and almost tasteless. Give it a try ladies. I will liquify within seconds so don't try to hold a chunk of it too long before applying it to the body. It moisturizes as well as lubricates to take your time massaging it into your/his skin.

    1. Yes, I promise it was a typo and not a Freudian slip. IDK.
Should have said, "It will liquify within seconds so don't try to hold a chunk of it too long before applying it to the body."

  9. Catching back up after a hiatus, but am always glad someone finds the joy of coconut oil. May have to do a post for the fellas, but we have now been using it for natural lube as needed for years. Also works VERY well for shower or bath fun times since it doesn't break down in water. Been doing our "testing" for some time now and always works for us. Still unkown as to condom compatibility, and wish someone would test since it's not an oil in the traditional definition that makes it bad for condoms. Anyways, pardon my french, but that shit is the bomb.
